“A haunting portrait of the other South Africa.”

About the Film
Cape Town, South Africa. Postcard beauty collides with reality. One of the most beautiful cities in the world – and one of the most unequal.
When the Mountain Meets Its Shadow follows four people whose lives unfold in the city’s blind spot. Ashraf and Mne fight forced evictions and water cut-offs as part of the Anti Eviction Campaign.
Zoliswa, a single mother, tries to find work somewhere between hope and a broken system. Arnold puts his faith in security as a future and trains to become an armed guard.
When an entire settlement is threatened with eviction, the past catches up with them. Apartheid may be over – its consequences are not.
